  1. Hi to anyone as curious as me

I was at St Josephs in 1963 but dont appear in any of the school photos and my two teenage sons have grave doubts about my abscence!
I find this most bizarre as spent several years kicking a ball around the “swings” with the local guys. Maybe someone may throw some light on this problem as I always claimed to be the funniest boy in Lefroy Ave
All the best to any sad old fart who regresses with strange hobbies!
    Jim Donohoe

  2. Hi,

I went to St. Bernards from 1968 to 1970 with my two brothers Jimmie and Johnny. I loved it there and I have find memories of the pupils, teachers and Sisters. My Mother Peggie ran the Kindergarten from 1969 to 1970.I recall my friend Barbara Shoyer waving good bye to me when we left the school to return to Ireland. I would love to hear form anyone who was there at that time. Anne Marie Allen

  3. Jimmy.
Well i remember you very well. We used to indeed play football morning noon and night, thats when we wern’t causing mayhem and being slapped by the penguins.

    Hope your well.

    Keith.

  4. Hi,
I attended the school from Easter 1966, for a few years, maybe 1968/9.

  5. Hi To all who had the pleasure (is that the word I am looking for?) of attending St Joseph’s. My twin brother Tommy and I were there from 1960 untill St Anne’s opend its doors as the catholic primary school which I think was around 1965/6?

  6. Hi Sean and others at St Josephs between 1961-1964(ish)The last teacher I had there was Miss Fitmorris. She was quite strict but I remember she had a tin of various goodies like choc bics that she let us we could dip into if we did a very good piece of work. I too went on to St Anne’s when it opened. I remember I was on the same school bus as you Sean and your brother and sisters. My siblings Teresa, Jackie, John and Michael also went to St Joseph’s.

  7. I taught in Norn Hill from September 1963 to the following July when the Sisters of charity left Basingstoke . My name in those days was Sr Patrick Mary. Sr Gabriel Dolores was the principal and Sr Alban was also on the staff. I remember well the Appleby family,,John Brimicombe, Shirley Spencer, Geoffrey Plummer. Wish I had a photo of the children in the boater hats. They were so cute.

  8. Hi, I remember you Anne Marie Allen, we were in the same class. I attended St Bernards from 1968 Kindergarten thru to Juniors 3 class in 1973 when the School closed and loved it. My sisters Annabelle and Victoria also went there. I also remember Barbara Shoyer also Judith Long, Carol O’Hagan, Richard Mullen and other faces that I can’t put names to. Now living in Canada.

  9. Any one remember me nest a turvey rings a bell and I do remember dear sister marcel liana. X

  10. Dear Rebecca, thank you for your reply! I remember your name. What happened to Barbara? I have photographs of our class, our ballet class and our Fist Holy Communion in the Holy Ghost Church. I will put them up soon. Keep in touch, Anne Marie

  11. I believe I started at St Joseph’s in 1960/61and stayed through the transition to St Bernard’s. After that I left to go to St Joseph’s in Reading. I recognise lots of name in the list.

  12. Hi there,
I too went to St Bernard’s in 1962/63 with Stephanie, Tony and Felicity. My best friend was Julie Darcy and she had 2 sisters Fiona and Melanie.
I have fond memories but also some scary ones.
I have many photos of fancy dress costumes which I will put up later.
I remember Mrs Saunders and Miss Fitzmorris.
